Jeremy Montoya, Via Elegante’s Executive Chef wins Silver Chef Culinary Competition
This past Saturday, October 23rd 2021, Jeremy Montoya, Executive Chef of Via Elegante Assisted Living and Memory Care, participated in the St. Luke’s Home Silver Chef Culinary Competition. Executive Chef’s from five other Tucson assisted living communities competed in the event and were judged by five local area restaurant chef’s including the winner of the 2019 Iron Chef Competition.
Executive chefs at Assisted Living Communities run their kitchens and work to please their customers (residents at their communities). However, they rarely get a chance to cook for their peers.
Jeremy’s winning dish was a Native American Short Rib Mini Taco. It was prepared with Short Ribs, Hatch Green Chilies and sweet corn relish wrapped in a shell made of Fry-Bread and topped with a Queso Fresco sauce.
St. Luke’s is a non-profit that operates the St. Luke’s Hoe assisted living center at 616 East Adams Street in Tucson. St. Luke’s conducts this event annually and Jeremy will be back next year to defend his title. More information can be found at www.stlukeshometucson.org
